After Virat Kohli’s Century, Brother Vikas Hits Back at Sanjay Manjrekar’s Criticism

Virat Kohli’s brilliant century against New Zealand has once again silenced his critics. His elder brother, Vikas Kohli, responded sharply to former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar’s remarks, saying, “Saying is easy, doing is difficult.”

Vikas Kohli Targets Critics
Despite India falling short in the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand, Virat Kohli’s masterful 124-run innings reaffirmed his stature in world cricket. Vikas Kohli took to social media immediately after Virat’s 54th ODI century to defend him against those questioning his decision to step away from Test cricket and focus solely on limited-overs formats.

Reacting indirectly to Manjrekar’s controversial comment that implied Virat was playing “easier” formats, Vikas wrote on Threads: “I wonder if the so-called cricket expert has any suggestions for this supposedly easiest format of cricket? You have to be on the field. As I’ve said before, saying is easy, doing is very difficult.” The post quickly went viral.

Statistics Speak for Kohli
At 37, Kohli has scored 240 runs in the series against New Zealand at an average of 80, proving his dominance in the ODI format. Even after stepping away from Tests, he has consistently demonstrated his form, including centuries and half-centuries for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In his last six ODIs, Kohli has scored three centuries and two half-centuries.

Looking Ahead: IPL 2026 and England Tour
Virat will next feature in India’s ODI series against England in July 2026. In the meantime, he will focus on IPL 2026, leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in their campaign to defend the title. Vikas Kohli’s remarks underline how criticism of Virat affects his family, yet on the field, Virat continues to prove that he remains one of cricket’s greatest match-winners, treating no format lightly.
