New Delhi: After creating history on the cricket field with his breathtaking performances in the Under-19 World Cup 2026, 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now set to step into a completely different arena — the examination hall.
The young star, who played a crucial role in helping India lift their sixth U-19 World Cup title, will appear for his Class 10 board examinations starting February 17, marking a major shift from sporting celebrations to academic responsibility.
No Special Treatment for the Young Cricket Star
Vaibhav, a student of Podar International School, Samastipur, has already been issued his admit card. Confirming his participation, school principal Neel Kishore stated that despite Vaibhav’s extraordinary achievements at the international level, the school administration will not offer him any special privileges at the examination centre.
The principal clarified that Vaibhav will be treated like any other student, and the security arrangements and facilities provided to him will remain the same as those available for all candidates.
“This is an academic pitch, and there will be no special treatment,” the school administration reportedly emphasized.
Historic 175 in the U-19 World Cup Final
Vaibhav rose to national fame after his sensational performance in the U-19 World Cup final held in Harare, Zimbabwe, where he smashed a stunning 175 runs off just 80 balls against England.
His record-breaking innings included 15 fours and 15 sixes, setting a new benchmark for the most sixes hit in a single innings at the tournament. Over the course of the World Cup, Vaibhav also hit 30 sixes, surpassing the previous record held by South African prodigy Dewald Brevis.
He finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 439 runs, further establishing himself as one of the brightest talents in Indian cricket.
Youngest IPL Star and Domestic Record Holder
Vaibhav’s rise has not been limited to the U-19 circuit. He has already created headlines in the Indian Premier League, becoming the youngest player in IPL history after being signed by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore.
He later etched his name in the record books by scoring a century against Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest centurion in the league.
In domestic cricket as well, Vaibhav has achieved remarkable feats, setting records for being the youngest player to score centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
A New Challenge Beyond Cricket
While Vaibhav has already conquered some of the biggest stages in cricket at just 14, his next challenge will test his focus and discipline in a different way. With board examinations approaching, the spotlight now shifts from the stadium to the classroom, as the young prodigy prepares to prove himself on the academic front.
