Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner and captain Rashid Khan has become part of the online buzz surrounding the upcoming Bollywood wartime movie “Border-2”. While currently in Dubai preparing for the T20 World Cup 2026, Rashid shared a playful video on his Instagram, showing his enthusiasm for watching the film and engaging with the social media trend.

The video, recorded on a roadside in the outskirts of Dubai, shows Rashid roasting corn (bhutta) while pairing it with a patriotic song from Border-2. In the Instagram Reel caption, he wrote: “I will definitely watch Border-2. But let’s see what happens if I post this.” Within hours, the video went viral across social media platforms, drawing attention to the movie even outside India.
Interaction with Movie Stars
In his post, Rashid tagged Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Sunil Shetty, Sunny Deol, and Diljit Dosanjh—the film’s key actors. Shortly after, Varun Dhawan commented in a friendly tone, boosting the video’s virality, while Ahan Shetty responded with a playful “thank you.” The most nostalgic reaction came from Sunil Shetty, who shared a series of memories related to the original 1997 Border film, in which he had played a pivotal role.
Other Cricketers Joining the Trend
Rashid is not the only cricketer to take part in the Border-2 trend. Indian cricket star KL Rahul had previously posted a video paired with the film’s song, writing that he would watch the movie if Ahan Shetty commented. Notably, Ahan is the brother of Rahul’s wife Athiya Shetty and son of Sunil Shetty. Rahul’s video also drew strong international social media engagement, extending the film’s buzz beyond India.
With Rashid Khan joining the trend, Border-2 is set to gain a further global push, connecting Bollywood patriotism with cricket fans worldwide.
