Abhishek Sharma Blasts Fifty in Just 18 Balls, Hardik Pandya Struggles – Ready to Trouble South Africa in T20s

Hyderabad: Punjab captain Abhishek Sharma is in sensational form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, and he showcased his explosive batting once again against Baroda at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad today, 12th December.

Winning the toss, Sharma chose to bat first – a decision that proved perfect. The young opener stormed to a blistering fifty in just 18 balls, taking on India all-rounder Hardik Pandya with fearless aggression.

Pandya bowled 4 deliveries (including a wide) to Sharma, but Punjab’s captain smashed 11 runs off just 2 legal balls, plus the wide run making it 12 runs. Sharma eventually fell for 50 runs off 19 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes, striking at an incredible 263.16.

Pandya’s Tough Day
Returning from an injury sustained during the Asia Cup, Hardik Pandya couldn’t make an impact. He bowled 4 overs, conceding 52 runs at an economy of 13 and picked up just 1 wicket.

Sharma’s Previous Heroics
In his previous match of the tournament, Sharma had smashed a record-breaking century off just 32 balls against Bengal, scoring 148 runs off 52 balls with 16 sixes and 8 fours – an innings that left everyone stunned.

Eyes on South Africa T20 Series
With India set to face South Africa in a 5-match T20 series starting 9th December, Sharma’s current form makes him a potential nightmare for the Proteas. His explosive hitting and fearless approach could prove decisive in the upcoming clash.
