New Delhi, January 17, 2026: Cricket is a sport full of records, some celebrated and others infamous. Among the most unusual records is that of Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman, who holds the distinction of conceding the most runs in a match without bowling a single legal delivery.
The incident occurred during the 2014 Asia Cup in Mirpur, when Pakistan faced Bangladesh. Rehman came on to bowl the 11th over of Bangladesh’s innings. His first delivery slipped from his hand, sailing over the batsman’s waist, and was ruled a no-ball. On his second delivery, he repeated the mistake, resulting in another no-ball, from which the batsmen managed to score a run.
Although rules normally allow only two full tosses above waist height before removing a bowler from the attack, Rehman was granted a third chance. Unfortunately, he delivered yet another high full toss, which was dispatched for a boundary by Anamul Haque. The umpire called another no-ball and immediately removed him from bowling. In total, Rehman conceded 8 runs without delivering a single legal ball.
This bizarre over marked the end of Rehman’s ODI career. Despite Pakistan winning the match, he never played another ODI. Over his international career, the 45-year-old left-arm spinner played 31 ODIs, taking 30 wickets, 22 Tests with 99 wickets, and 8 T20Is with 11 wickets. He was also part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2011 World Cup.
This record, while humorous, remains a cautionary tale of how even experienced players can have unforgettable off days on the cricket field.
