Rising Star of Indian Cricket
Aaron George, who previously made headlines in the Under-19 Asia Cup against Pakistan by scoring 85 runs off 88 balls, is a right-handed batsman from Hyderabad, though he was born in Kerala. He has consistently performed in domestic tournaments, including the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, scoring 341 and 373 runs in the past two seasons. He also recorded a triple century against Bihar in the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2022-23.
Fulfilling a Father’s Dream
Aaron’s father, Eso Varghese, had aspired to become a professional cricketer but was unable to pursue it due to lack of support. Now, his son is fulfilling that dream on the international stage. Aaron’s performances in the Under-19 Asia Cup and now in South Africa have highlighted his growing potential. He considers AB de Villiers of South Africa as his idol.
At just 19 years old, Aaron George has played seven Youth ODIs for India, scoring 371 runs at an average of 61.83, including one century and three half-centuries. In the third Youth ODI against South Africa, he scored 118 runs before being dismissed, further cementing his reputation as one of India’s most promising young batsmen.
