1 Over, 1 Run, 5 Wickets: Unknown Indonesian Bowler Makes T20I History

In a stunning feat that has rewritten T20 International cricket history, Indonesia’s fast bowler Gede Priandana achieved what even legends like Lasith Malinga, Rashid Khan, and Jason Holder could not—taking five wickets in a single over while conceding just one run.

Priandana’s Record-Breaking Spell

The 28-year-old part-time pacer delivered the extraordinary performance against Cambodia in Bali. On a memorable day, Priandana dismantled the opposition in just six balls, claiming five wickets and entering the record books as the first bowler in T20I history to achieve this feat.

Priandana’s over began with a hat-trick—he dismissed Shah Abrar Husain, Nirmaljit Singh, and Chanthouyun Rathanak in his first three deliveries. After one dot ball, he struck again, sending Mongdara Sok and Pel Vennak back to the pavilion. Remarkably, Cambodia’s entire team was bowled out for 107 runs, adding only a single run off Priandana’s over, which came from a wide.

Thanks to this incredible bowling display, Indonesia won the match by 60 runs.

Match Context

Indonesia had set a competitive total of 167/5, with opener and wicketkeeper Dharma Kesuma scoring an unbeaten 110 off 68 balls, including 8 fours and 6 sixes. Cambodia, chasing 168, reached 106/5 in 15 overs before Priandana’s spell turned the game. Despite his historic performance, Priandana was not awarded Player of the Match, which went to Kesuma for his anchor innings.

T20I Bowlers with 4+ Wickets in an Over

  • Gede Priandana (Indonesia) – 5 wickets vs Cambodia, 2025
  • Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka) – 4 wickets vs New Zealand, 2019
  • Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) – 4 wickets vs Ireland, 2019
  • Curtis Campher (Ireland) – 4 wickets vs Netherlands, 2022
  • Jason Holder (West Indies) – 4 wickets vs England, 2022

Domestic Cricket Comparisons

While Priandana’s 5-wicket over is a first at the international T20 level, similar feats have been achieved in domestic cricket. Bangladesh’s Al-Amin Hussain did it in the Victory Day T20 Cup (2013-14), and former India pacer Abhimanyu Mithun achieved it in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy semi-final for Karnataka in 2019-20.

Gede Priandana’s sensational over has firmly established him as a rising star in world cricket, proving that history can be made in just six deliveries.
