Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh: The Jabalpur police have arrested Rishabh Mishra, the newly appointed state secretary of the Youth Congress, following allegations of rape and prolonged sexual exploitation. The complainant, a married woman, accused Mishra of exploiting her under the pretense of marriage for over three years.

Incident Details
According to the police, the woman first came into contact with Mishra via social media in 2020. The victim, married since 2016 and mother to a daughter, reportedly began communicating with Mishra online. When her husband became aware of this interaction, tensions escalated, and she eventually separated from her husband along with her daughter.

In March 2022, Mishra allegedly took the woman to a hotel on Ukhari Road, where he coerced her into sexual relations under the guise of marriage. He continued to exploit her physically over the next three years. In December 2025, Mishra took the woman and her daughter to Goa, where he allegedly engaged in further sexual activity with the woman while staying at a hotel.

Marriage Elsewhere and Threats
After returning from Goa, the woman discovered that Mishra’s marriage had been arranged elsewhere. When she protested, Mishra reportedly refused marriage, revealing that he was already married, and allegedly threatened her life.
