Why Did CM Mamata Banerjee Personally Retrieve a ‘Green File’ During Raids? BJP’s Ravishankar Prasad Raises Serious Allegations

Kolkata: Tensions escalated between the BJP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) following an ED raid at the I-PEK office in Kolkata. The controversy centers on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who claimed she intervened in the raid in her capacity as TMC President. BJP leaders have now challenged this claim, alleging that the real motive may have been to remove evidence related to the coal scam that could implicate her party.

BJP Targets Mamata Banerjee

During a press conference, BJP Lok Sabha MP Ravishankar Prasad pointed out that despite an alleged attack on the convoy of Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, the state government did not register any FIR. Prasad highlighted a moment from the raid where Mamata Banerjee was seen holding a green file, which was reportedly removed during the ED operation.

Mamata had earlier claimed that the ED was attempting to seize her party’s electoral strategy. BJP leaders, however, dismissed this explanation, suggesting that the raid may have aimed at removing incriminating documents related to coal scam beneficiaries, hawala money trails, or TMC members and officials involved in illicit activities.

Serious Questions Raised

Prasad asked: Why did a Chief Minister have to personally handle a file during a government raid? What evidence did it contain? He speculated that the urgency may have been linked to hawala funds potentially being used in the Goa Assembly elections for TMC campaigns.

Mamata Banerjee, on her part, described the raids as politically motivated, claiming the central government is using the ED to target her party, while I-PEK has been functioning as an advisory body for TMC.

This confrontation underscores the growing political tension in West Bengal, with both parties accusing each other of misusing administrative power for electoral advantage.
