“Where is Atishi?” Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra Questions AAP Leader Over Alleged Disrespect to Gurus

New Delhi: The political heat in Delhi shows no signs of cooling as Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra has publicly targeted opposition leader Atishi, accusing her of using objectionable language against revered Sikh Gurus during a discussion in the Delhi Assembly. Mishra claimed that Atishi has since gone missing, suggesting the act was intentional.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Kapil Mishra alleged that on 6 January, during a session commemorating the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Bhai Matidas, Bhai Satidas, and Bhai Dayala, Atishi disrupted proceedings in the Assembly and used offensive language against the Gurus.

The minister also shared a photograph of Atishi on social media, writing: “The person who committed the crime is now absconding and missing.” He accused the AAP of shielding Atishi from the media and alleged misuse of Punjab’s resources and police under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s directives to cover up the incident. Mishra further claimed that false cases were being filed against people and attempts made to intimidate them.

Warning to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann

Addressing Punjab’s Chief Minister, Mishra said: “Bhagwant Mann, do not become an accomplice to this wrongdoing. Politics has its place, but the respect of Gurus is paramount. Atishi’s words are on record. She has committed a sin and is now absconding.” He added that repeated requests by the Delhi Assembly Speaker to clarify the situation were ignored, and Atishi has not attended the Assembly or appeared before the media since the incident.

Targeting Kejriwal as well

Mishra also took aim at Arvind Kejriwal, stating that Atishi’s actions were serious and she should not be allowed to evade accountability. He said: “Kejriwal should have ensured that Atishi comes forward and apologizes. We are not afraid of your cases or your police. This is about faith and the dignity of the House, and we will not remain silent.” Mishra concluded by urging Atishi to face the public instead of hiding.
