Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a high-profile visit to West Bengal ahead of the state assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference in Kolkata on Tuesday, Shah launched a strong attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led government, accusing it of rampant corruption and failing to ensure the safety of women.
Shah said, “Under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, development across West Bengal has come to a standstill due to corruption. All beneficial schemes initiated by Prime Minister Modi have fallen prey to local toll syndicates. For the past 14 years, fear and corruption have become synonymous with West Bengal. After April 15, 2026, when a BJP government assumes office in Bengal, we will revive Bengal’s pride and culture. ‘Beng Bhumi’ holds great significance for us, as the BJP was founded here by the great leader Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee.”
Focus on Security and Border Control
Shah further emphasized, “All infiltrators from across the border will be identified and removed. We will establish a strong national grid in Bengal to curb infiltration. Not a single bird will be harmed in this process. Our BJP government will ensure that all infiltrators are carefully tracked and removed from India.”
Election Message for Bengal
Touching upon the upcoming assembly elections, Shah said, “December 30 is a day of pride for all Indians. On this day in 1943, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose first hoisted the flag of a free India in Port Blair, marking a crucial milestone in our struggle for independence. Similarly, the period leading up to April 2026 is critical for Bengal. The people have a chance to replace fear, corruption, misgovernance, and infiltration with a government committed to heritage, development, and welfare for the poor.”
Shah’s visit has significantly raised the political temperature in Bengal, as the BJP intensifies its campaign ahead of the elections.
