VIP Chief Mukesh Sahani Reflects on Political Setbacks, Hints at New Strategies

Patna, Bihar: After facing a significant defeat in Bihar’s recent elections, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani appears to be taking a step back from full-time politics, focusing instead on his professional ventures. Known for balancing his political ambitions with business interests, Sahani has often been criticized for treating politics as a part-time endeavor.

From Aspirations of Deputy CM to Electoral Defeat
Sahani’s political journey has been marked by strategic missteps and an inconsistent approach that has raised questions about his credibility. From attending Rashtriya Janata Dal press conferences and then joining the NDA, to leaving BJP for the Mahagathbandhan, Sahani’s frequent shifts have also affected the voter base of his community, resulting in fragmented support.

Sahani’s Post-Election Comments
Reflecting on the defeat, Sahani admitted, “Why stay in Bihar right now? Every party has different types of people, and everyone makes their statements. We have lost the elections, so there’s little point in immediate action. We will wait for three months and then return with full vigor.”

Although initially cautious, Sahani has now begun positioning VIP as a key opposition force. He added, “We will monitor whether the government fulfills the promises made to the public. If it fails, we will prepare to take to the streets. For example, if women do not receive the promised two lakh rupees under the 10-hazari scheme, VIP will protest actively.”

Concerns About the Election Commission
Sahani also expressed ongoing concerns regarding the conduct of the Bihar 2025 elections, alleging irregularities. “The struggle of VIP against the Election Commission will continue. In my view, democracy is at risk. The BJP did not receive a clear mandate; votes were allegedly manipulated, and voter names removed. This situation will only end when the central BJP government is replaced,” he claimed.

While some of Sahani’s remarks echo the broader narrative of the Mahagathbandhan, they indicate that VIP is gradually returning to active political engagement, albeit with a cautious and strategic approach.
