
Dehradun: On the occasion of Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹8,260 crore at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) campus on Sunday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the mantra of “Developed Uttarakhand for a Developed India”, highlighting the state’s growth over the past 25 years.
PM Modi Appreciates Uttarakhand’s Progress
Addressing the ceremony, PM Modi extended greetings to the people of Uttarakhand in Garhwali and Kumaoni languages. He reflected on the state’s journey since its formation 25 years ago under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, noting that the state’s budget has grown from ₹4,000 crore to over ₹1 lakh crore. He praised improvements in power generation, road networks, air connectivity, and higher education institutions.
The Prime Minister inaugurated several ambitious projects, including:
- Digital currency-based grants for citizens
- Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line
- Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
- Gaurikund-Kedarnath Ropeway
- Govindghat-Hemkund Sahib Ropeway
He also lauded Uttarakhand’s initiatives in tourism, yoga centers, vibrant village programs, Winter Tourism, high-altitude marathons, and the Adi Kailash Prakriti Run, while highlighting the “Vocal for Local” campaign promoting local products.
CM Dhami Highlights Development and Social Progress
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed PM Modi and reflected on Uttarakhand’s achievements over the past 25 years in development, sports, culture, and investment. He emphasized the state’s commitment to a harmonious society, mentioning initiatives such as the Uniform Civil Code, anti-cheating laws, and anti-conversion legislation, reinforcing Uttarakhand’s social identity and cultural heritage.

The event was attended by Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, Union Minister Ajay Tamta, Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt, along with other prominent leaders and dignitaries.
The Foundation Day celebrations reflected Uttarakhand’s remarkable progress in infrastructure, governance, culture, and innovation, setting the stage for sustainable growth over the next 25 years.
