UP: How to Add Your Name Back in Voter List if Dropped During SIR – Simple Step-by-Step Process

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has begun in Uttar Pradesh to update the voter list. This initiative ensures that eligible citizens have their names correctly reflected in the updated electoral rolls.

Many residents are concerned about what happens if their names are accidentally dropped during SIR. Experts have clarified that there is no need to worry. Even if your name does not appear in the final SIR list, it can be re-added through the standard voter registration process.

Address Proof Required

To restore a name, residents can either apply online or contact their Booth Level Officer (BLO). Standard documentation, including proof of address, will be required. SIR is primarily aimed at updating the voter list; it does not affect a person’s citizenship.

SIR Process and Verification

Under SIR, the BLO visits households in their area and helps residents fill out the Enumeration Form. This form has two parts: one is taken by the BLO for official records, while the other remains with the resident. The form certifies the connection to the 2002 voter list, either through the resident or their parents.

No Additional Documents Needed if Connection Exists

If the connection to the 2002 voter list is verified, residents do not need to provide any additional documents. The BLO may make up to three visits to complete the process, and it is not necessary for all household members to be present. Any family member can complete the verification on behalf of others.

With these simple steps, residents can ensure that their names are correctly added to the voter list, maintaining their right to vote in upcoming elections.
