Unnao Rape Case: Victim Seeks to Submit Additional Evidence Against Kuldeep Singh Sengar, Delhi HC Seeks Response

In the high-profile Unnao minor rape case, the victim has approached the Delhi High Court seeking permission to submit additional evidence against former MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The court has sought responses from both the CBI and Sengar on this application. The matter was heard on Thursday by a division bench comprising Justice Pratibha M. Singh and Justice Madhu Jain.

Representing the victim, lawyer Mahmood Pracha argued that his client intends to submit additional documents, including records related to her age, to strengthen the case. However, the bench noted that these documents were not attached with the petition. The court has directed the victim’s counsel to file all relevant documents by January 31, and scheduled the next hearing for February 25. The CBI and Sengar have been given two weeks to file their responses.

Life Imprisonment Sentence
Kuldeep Singh Sengar was previously convicted by the Tis Hazari Court in Delhi for sexual assault of a minor and sentenced to life imprisonment. His appeal against the conviction is currently pending before the Delhi High Court.

Case Transferred from Unnao to Delhi
The case, originally from Unnao, was transferred to Delhi following directions from the Supreme Court. Notably, on December 23, 2025, the Delhi High Court temporarily stayed Sengar’s sentence pending appeal, but this order was stayed by the Supreme Court on December 29, 2025.

The ongoing legal proceedings highlight the persistent judicial scrutiny in this sensitive and high-profile case, as the victim seeks to present further evidence to ensure justice is served.
