New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the world’s largest political party, is set to enter the ‘Nitin Nabin Era’ as the 45-year-old leader has been elected unopposed as the national president. He will formally assume office on Tuesday, succeeding J.P. Nadda, who has held the position since 2020.
Youngest BJP President in History
Hailing from Bihar, Nitin Nabin is the youngest leader ever to hold the post of BJP national president. He has previously served as a five-time legislator in Bihar and has held ministerial portfolios in the state government, including Law & Justice and Urban Development & Housing.
Nabin was the sole candidate for the post, with his nomination supported by senior party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J.P. Nadda, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Nitin Gadkari. A total of 37 sets of nomination papers were submitted in his favor, all of which were declared valid by the election officer K. Lakshman.
Religious Visits Ahead of Formal Assumption
Before formally taking charge, Nitin Nabin performed prayers at key temples and religious sites in Delhi, including the Jhandewala Temple, Valmiki Temple, CP Hanuman Temple, and offered respects at Gurdwara Shri Bangla Sahib. A celebratory atmosphere prevailed outside the BJP headquarters, with senior leaders and party members present in large numbers.
Political Lineage and Early Life
Nitin Nabin comes from a prominent political family in Bihar. His father, Naveen Kishore Prasad Sinha, was a well-known leader in the state. After his father’s passing in 2006, Nitin Nabin continued his political legacy. Born the same year BJP was established, he completed his schooling up to 10th grade in Ranchi and pursued further education in Delhi.
A Steady Political Journey
Over the years, Nitin Nabin has built a strong political career in Bihar, winning elections five times as an MLA and serving in key ministerial roles. His unopposed election as BJP national president marks a historic milestone, ushering in a new era for the party under a young, dynamic leadership.
