Tej Pratap Yadav Seeks to Sweeten Bihar Politics with Makar Sankranti Invitation

Patna, January 7, 2026: Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and supremo of the Jan Shakti Janata Dal, is set to bring a festive flavor to Bihar politics this Makar Sankranti. On Wednesday, he personally visited Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha at his official residence to extend an invitation for a curd and flattened rice (dahi-chura) feast on January 14 at his Patna residence.

Tej Pratap Yadav had earlier announced in the media that the Makar Sankranti celebration would be hosted by his party, with invitations extended to all political leaders, including the Chief Minister, Governor, Deputy Chief Minister, and Leader of Opposition. “The event will be celebrated with gur, curd, and flattened rice, and everyone is invited,” Tej Pratap said, emphasizing that media personnel and citizens from across Bihar are welcome.

Bipartisan Outreach
Prior to meeting Vijay Sinha, Tej Pratap had also reached out to senior leaders of the NDA, personally handing them invitation cards. During his visit, he engaged in extended conversations with Vijay Sinha, discussing various issues while maintaining cordial relations despite political differences.

Speaking to the media at Vijay Sinha’s residence, Tej Pratap emphasized, “Political rivalry is one thing, but personal relationships matter. I am here to extend invitations and maintain cordial ties.” Earlier, he also invited Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash, congratulating him on his new responsibilities while handing over the invitation for the feast.

A Politically Active Figure
Tej Pratap Yadav, who was suspended from the RJD for six years, has remained in the public eye through multiple initiatives. He fielded candidates under his party during recent Bihar elections, though without success. Following that, he gained attention with his blog, dairy projects, and social media presence, including statements on national issues that attracted public debate. Recently, he supported Giriraj Singh’s remarks on JNU slogans and criticized the Congress for opposing Lord Ram, keeping himself consistently in the political conversation.

With the dahi-chura feast on January 14, Tej Pratap Yadav is once again leveraging personal outreach to foster goodwill and reinforce his presence in Bihar’s political landscape, blending festive spirit with strategic networking.
