Mumbai/New Delhi, Feb 13, 2026: Following the tragic death of Maharashtra’s former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, the Pawar family is navigating a challenging period. Supriya Sule, Ajit Pawar’s cousin, speaking from Delhi during the budget session, addressed several pressing issues and shared her first public reactions to ongoing political speculations.
On Ajit Pawar’s Unfinished Dreams
Participating online in a Pune District Planning Committee meeting chaired by Sunetra Pawar, Supriya Sule emphasized, “It is our responsibility to fulfill Ajit Pawar’s unfinished dreams. Had Dada (Ajit Pawar) been alive, the merger of both NCP factions would have been possible.” She added that she did not wish to revisit past differences and that discussions between her and Dada remain private.
Direct Question on Joining NDA
When asked about the possibility of joining the NDA, Supriya Sule told the media, “Democracy allows everyone to express their views. I have my own information and understanding.” Speculation has long suggested that she could assume a ministerial role at the Centre. Reports also indicate that Sunetra Pawar may take over as the National President of the NCP by the end of this month, raising questions about whether Ajit Pawar’s political vision will be realized.
Comments on the Plane Crash
Addressing Ajit Pawar’s plane crash, Supriya Sule said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised a detailed investigation. She noted that Rohit Pawar’s concerns are natural, given that many questions remain unanswered. Rohit Pawar has publicly suggested the possibility of foul play, initially pointing fingers at Prafull Patel and more recently at party adviser Naresh Arora.
Personal Notes and Family Matters
Despite the family’s grief, Supriya Sule confirmed her daughter Revati Sule’s marriage to Nagpur businessman Sarang Lakhani, revealing that Ajit Pawar played a major role in finalizing the alliance before his untimely death on January 28. “This relationship had been under discussion for several months. Revati and Sarang have known each other for over a year, and Dada’s support was significant,” she said.
Summary: Supriya Sule’s remarks come at a critical juncture for the NCP, as internal decisions regarding leadership and potential mergers continue to generate speculation. Her measured responses indicate a focus on preserving Ajit Pawar’s legacy while navigating the party’s uncertain political future.
