Patna: As Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar embarked on his “Samriddhi Yatra,” opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav sprang into action in a style dubbed “Singham Returns.” Breaking the political silence, Yadav held high-level discussions with senior leaders and party MPs, issuing instructions for close engagement with the public and a meticulous assessment of the government’s performance during its first 100 days.
Sources within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) say the party plans to use public grievances to strategically challenge the ruling government. Party leaders have been tasked to stay in touch with the people, monitor government initiatives, and ensure that the administration’s incomplete or superficial projects are highlighted in the public domain. The objective is to strengthen the party’s grip among voters and expose any shortcomings of the government.
100-Day Focus on Public Issues
RJD sources reveal that the next 100 days will focus on understanding citizens’ problems. By addressing these issues, the party aims to consolidate its presence in the state and maintain pressure on the government. While the RJD had earlier stated that it would allow the government to work unopposed for 100 days, its leaders will closely evaluate the administration’s achievements and failures at the end of this period. Any attempt by the government to seek mere praise without delivering results will be met with active opposition.
Election Review and Strategic Planning
The party also reviewed its performance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Key findings included the high impact of the ₹10,000 welfare scheme, the inability of the party to fully mobilize its resources, internal betrayals, and a lack of coordination among allied party organizations.
Amid the pressures of Nitish Kumar’s “Samriddhi Yatra,” Tejashwi Yadav convened senior leaders and MPs to break internal political inertia. The directives from this meeting are expected to cascade down to the grassroots, energizing party workers and strengthening RJD’s organizational base.
Emerging Leaders
Tejashwi’s new challenger, Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, has emphasized that genuine internal self-reflection and assuming responsibility are more important than mere performance reviews. She stressed the need for courage to deal with internal saboteurs before any meaningful evaluation can be conducted.
