Pune: Senior NCP leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sharad Pawar has been admitted to a hospital in Pune after his health deteriorated. The 83-year-old politician was initially examined by doctors in Baramati on Monday morning, who then recommended hospitalization in Pune for better treatment.
Health Concerns After Family Tragedy
Pawar had been in Baramati since the tragic plane crash on 28 January that claimed the life of his nephew Ajit Pawar. Despite participating actively in funeral rituals and family gatherings, his health reportedly worsened, prompting the move to Pune. According to sources, he had been experiencing persistent cough and phlegm, which caused difficulty in breathing.
Medical Precautions During Transfer
Local media reports noted that Pawar was examined at Govindbag, Baramati, on Monday morning. Following medical advice, he was transported to Pune in the afternoon. Precautionary arrangements included a separate vehicle equipped with cardiac facilities and medical staff on standby. Pawar wore a protective mask during the journey to minimize risk.
Absent from Budget Session
Due to his presence in Baramati following Ajit Pawar’s death, Sharad Pawar did not attend the parliamentary budget session in Delhi. During this period, he also held a major family meeting at Vidya Pratishthan regarding decisions related to his nephew’s memorial.
