Baran, Rajasthan: Despite Congress securing victory in the Anta Assembly bypoll, 17 party leaders are facing disciplinary action for failing to perform assigned duties during the campaign. The high command is reportedly displeased, and a major shake-up within the state unit is expected.
Failure to Turn Up for Campaign Duties
The leaders in question were designated as star campaigners and assigned responsibilities at the block level. However, they did not participate in field activities during the bypoll. This lapse has put them squarely on the radar of senior party officials, prompting plans for strict action.
Youth Congress Leaders Also Under Scrutiny
In addition, 18 district heads of the Youth Congress have been issued notices for not attending a protest organized in Jaipur. The demonstration, which highlighted flaws in voter verification and alleged vote manipulation, saw low participation from Youth Congress leaders despite the presence of national president Udaybhanu Chib.
Upcoming Disciplinary Measures
The Congress party has indicated that the 17 absent leaders will be summoned, with some facing removal from their current positions and others being reassigned new responsibilities. Changes are also likely at the PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) level, signaling a broader organizational reshuffle.
Internal Conflicts Highlighted
The lack of coordination and poor turnout has fueled internal disputes within both the Congress and Youth Congress. Party sources say the disciplinary measures aim to reinforce accountability and ensure better mobilization in future elections.
