Security Guards Seen Restricting Journalists During CM Nitish Kumar’s Samriddhi Yatra in Madhubani

Madhubani: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday flagged off the second phase of his ambitious Samriddhi Yatra from Madhubani district. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Cabinet Minister Vijay Choudhary during the visit. While the tour focused on reviewing development works and interacting with beneficiaries of government schemes, an uncomfortable situation arose when security personnel were seen restricting media coverage.

After arriving at the inspection site, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited various government stalls set up at the venue and interacted directly with officials and beneficiaries to gather feedback on ongoing welfare schemes. He later held a review meeting with local public representatives and district officials at the Panchayat Bhawan.

During this time, journalists stationed outside the Panchayat Bhawan attempted to capture photographs and videos of the Chief Minister’s activities. However, security guards deployed at the venue stopped media personnel from continuing their coverage. One security staff member was heard gesturing and telling journalists, “It’s done, brother. Please take it later.” The media persons were made to wait outside the security perimeter, leading to visible discontent among journalists present at the spot.

The incident triggered murmurs among media circles, raising questions over press access during official public programmes.

Notably, the second phase of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Samriddhi Yatra will continue for three days, from January 27 to January 29. The tour will be temporarily suspended due to the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly session and is expected to resume after the session concludes.
