Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar continues his Samriddhi Yatra, with the first phase of the journey covering Siwan, Muzaffarpur, and Vaishali. The tour aims to announce various development initiatives in these districts. However, speculation is rife over whether opposition leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav and Osama Shahab, will participate in the CM’s public events.
On Thursday, Nitish Kumar will be in Siwan, where several development projects will be inaugurated. His program is focused on the Siwan Sadar Assembly constituency, but as a government initiative, benefits are expected to reach all eight assembly segments in the district. Despite this, opposition MLAs rarely attend such programs, reflecting the current political dynamics.
Attention is particularly on Raghunathpur in Siwan, the lone constituency held by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) where Osama Shahab, son of the late influential leader Shahabuddin, is the sitting MLA. Observers say it is highly unlikely that Osama Shahab will attend the CM’s event, given his family’s historical opposition to Nitish Kumar and the fact that they have never aligned with JD(U) or the NDA.
Similarly, the Vaishali leg of the Samriddhi Yatra, concluding on Saturday, January 24, raises questions about RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, who represents the Raghopur constituency. While the CM’s visit will cover all assembly segments in Vaishali, past trends indicate that opposition leaders generally avoid participating, suggesting that Tejashwi Yadav is also unlikely to share the stage with Nitish Kumar.
The Samriddhi Yatra continues to underscore Bihar’s development agenda while highlighting the persistent political divisions within the state.
