Buxar: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Sudhakar Singh has launched a sharp attack on the Bihar government over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state, alleging that Bihar is currently witnessing a phase of “rakshas raj” (rule of demons). Targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the RJD leader accused the government of shielding criminals and failing to ensure safety, especially for women and children.
Referring to the infamous Muzaffarpur shelter home case, Sudhakar Singh alleged that the manner in which the case was allegedly covered up has emboldened criminals involved in sexual crimes against minors. “When those accused of heinous crimes are protected, it only strengthens the confidence of mafias and offenders,” he said.
Allegations of Proximity to Criminals
Taking his criticism further, the RJD MP claimed that the main accused in the Muzaffarpur case had close links with those in power. “The Chief Minister himself attended birthday parties at the house of the prime accused. When the head of the state is seen socialising with criminals, the collapse of governance becomes inevitable,” Sudhakar Singh alleged.
Concern Over NEET Aspirant’s Death
Expressing deep concern over the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna, Sudhakar Singh said the issue goes beyond politics and reflects a serious social failure. He questioned the lack of adequate safety arrangements for students, particularly women, in the state.
Drawing comparisons with other states, he said Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Gujarat have effectively utilised central government schemes to build hundreds of secure women’s hostels, providing a safe environment for female students. “Bihar, unfortunately, has failed completely on this front,” he added.
Criticism Over Mumbai ‘Bihar Bhavan’ Project
Sudhakar Singh also questioned the state government’s decision to construct a new Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai at a cost of ₹314 crore, calling it an act of extravagance. “When people in Bihar are struggling for treatment of life-threatening diseases like cancer, the government is spending hundreds of crores on buildings meant for the comfort of officials and politicians,” he said.
He pointed out that Bihar still lacks a dedicated cancer super-speciality hospital, forcing thousands of patients to travel to cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai for treatment. “With the same ₹314 crore, a state-of-the-art cancer hospital could have been established in Bihar,” the RJD MP asserted.
Strong Political Message
Sudhakar Singh’s remarks underline growing political tensions in Bihar, with the opposition intensifying its attack on the Nitish Kumar government over governance, public safety, and spending priorities. His statements are expected to further heat up the political discourse in the state in the days ahead.
