Rajnath Singh Praises CM Yogi Adityanath, Calls Him ‘A Master of Economics as Well as Politics’

Lucknow: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday heaped praise on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, describing him not only as a seasoned politician but also as someone with a strong grasp of economics. Singh was speaking at the inauguration of Ashok Leyland’s new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Lucknow, which was jointly inaugurated by CM Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh said Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a key contributor to India’s overall development and is playing a leadership role in the country’s growth story. He credited this transformation to the policies and governance model of the Yogi Adityanath-led government.

‘You Are Skilled in Economics Too,’ Says Rajnath Singh

“I always believed that you are a master of politics, but today I have come to the conclusion that you are equally skilled in economics,” Rajnath Singh said, addressing Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “You know very well how profits can be generated and how long-term benefits can be ensured for the government.”

Referring to the state government’s decision to allot 70 acres of land at a subsidised rate under the Fortune 500 policy, Singh said such a move was unprecedented in the country. “I am told that this land has been provided at nearly 75 per cent subsidised rates. I believe this kind of policy is rare. In the long run, this decision will prove far more beneficial for the government, as it will generate multiple economic returns and turn this region into a major development hub,” he said.

UP Leading India’s Manufacturing Push

The Defence Minister also highlighted India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing, stating that the country is now producing its own weapons and equipment. “Uttar Pradesh is leading this transformation and contributing significantly to India’s manufacturing and industrial growth,” he added.

India’s Rising Global Standing

Speaking on India’s position at the global level, Rajnath Singh said the country’s voice now commands respect on international platforms. “There was a time when India’s views were not taken seriously in global forums. Today, when India speaks, the world listens carefully. This reflects India’s growing stature under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.

UP’s Role in India’s Economic Future

Emphasising Uttar Pradesh’s economic ambitions, Singh expressed confidence that the state would achieve its target of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030, possibly even ahead of schedule. “Based on my long political experience, I can confidently say that Uttar Pradesh will achieve this goal before time,” he remarked.

He further stated that as India moves towards its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047, Uttar Pradesh will play a decisive role. “The road to a developed India will pass through a developed Uttar Pradesh. I firmly believe that a ‘Viksit Bharat’ is possible only with a ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh’,” Rajnath Singh concluded.
