Rajasthan BJP MLA Bhagchand Tankda Loses Temper During Vikas Rath Yatra, Video Sparks Political Debate

A video of BJP MLA Bhagchand Tankda expressing strong displeasure during the Vikas Rath Yatra in Rajasthan’s Dausa district has gone viral on social media, intensifying political discussions across the state.

The incident took place in the Baswa area, during a welcome programme held at Subdawali village as part of the development outreach campaign. Bhagchand Tankda, the BJP MLA from Bandikui, became visibly angry after a local man allegedly tried to hold his hand while raising demands for development works.

Police Action at the Spot

Following the incident, the Baswa police intervened and detained the individual under preventive action for breach of peace. The situation was brought under control, but the MLA’s sharp remarks from the stage soon became the focal point of public and political attention.

MLA’s Sharp Remarks from the Stage

Addressing the gathering, MLA Tankda strongly objected to the behavior, making a forceful statement to assert his self-respect and authority. In his speech, he said:

“If anyone believes that numbers or caste identity will pressure me, they should forget it. My name is Bhagchand Tankda. If anyone is under any misconception—if you are wearing such glasses, take them off. I am not someone who will bow down to pressure. Holding my hand to demand work is not the right way. If someone grabs my hand, I will personally have them escorted out of the tent. I too belong to this very constituency.”

He further emphasized that while he remains open to legitimate development demands, there is a proper way to present them.

“You can list one task, five tasks—if they are justified, they will be done. But this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I will take legal action if needed. I tried to resolve your gram panchayat dispute by seating both sides together. My job is not to create conflicts, but I also have my own self-respect. If anyone wants a debate, they can come—count their five years and count my two years,” he added.

Video Triggers Political Buzz

The video of the MLA’s remarks is spreading rapidly on social media platforms and has triggered intense political debate, with reactions pouring in from supporters and critics alike. While some view the statement as a firm stand on dignity and discipline, others have questioned the tone used during a public development programme.

The incident has once again highlighted the sensitive interface between public representatives and citizens, especially during mass outreach campaigns, where expectations, emotions, and political messaging often collide.
