Rajasthan BJP Government Completes Two Years: Cabinet Meeting Today to Discuss Five Key Issues

Jaipur: The Rajasthan BJP government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal, is set to hold a crucial cabinet meeting today at 4 PM as it completes two years in office. The administration is expected to discuss and finalize key policy decisions and new programs ahead of major upcoming events.

Key Issues Likely on the Agenda

  1. Pravasi Rajasthani Divas
The government is likely to discuss the upcoming Pravasi Rajasthani Divas scheduled for 10 December. Representatives sent across various states to connect with the Rajasthani diaspora and businessmen have provided feedback to the state administration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been invited to attend the event.
  2. Panchayat and Urban Local Body Elections
Following the Anta bypolls, all political parties are now focusing on the upcoming local elections. The High Court recently directed the state to conduct Panchayat and urban local body elections by 15 April 2026. Cabinet discussions may focus on preparing for these elections and related administrative arrangements.
  3. Eligibility of Candidates with More Than Two Children
Recent policy changes have cleared the path for government employees with three children to receive promotions. Now, there is growing demand to allow candidates with more than two children to contest local body elections. The cabinet may deliberate on introducing an ordinance to remove restrictions dating back to 1995.
  4. Regulation of Coaching Institutions
Although legislation exists to regulate coaching institutions, rules have yet to be formally implemented. The cabinet may review and approve regulatory frameworks. Discussions could also cover amendments in rules related to various government departments, along with development policies for solar and thermal energy in Rajasthan.
  5. Administrative Transfers
With V. Srinivas recently appointed as the new Chief Secretary, cabinet deliberations may include potential transfers and reshuffling of IAS, IPS, and RAS officers in the state bureaucracy. This is expected to shape administrative priorities in the coming year.

The cabinet meeting, therefore, is poised to address a mix of cultural, electoral, regulatory, and administrative matters, signaling the state government’s intent to accelerate policy implementation as it marks its two-year milestone.
