Jaipur, Rajasthan: The issue of transfers for third-grade teachers sparked a heated debate in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday. In response to questions from BJP MLA Govind Prasad, Education Minister Madan Dilawar clarified that currently, there is no provision for transfers outside the district. Decisions regarding third-grade teacher transfers will only be taken once the state’s new transfer policy is finalized.
New Transfer Policy to Decide Future Moves
Minister Dilawar told the Assembly that the government is actively working on a comprehensive transfer policy. Once the policy is finalized, transfers for third-grade teachers will be considered. He reiterated that at present, there is no formal provision allowing transfers beyond district limits. The Leader of Opposition raised concerns over the delay, questioning why the policy has not been implemented even after over two years.
Assembly Showdown Between BJP and Congress
Responding to opposition queries, Minister Dilawar highlighted that during the BJP government in 2018, more than 2,200 third-grade teacher transfers were carried out, while under the Congress government, no transfers occurred. He questioned the opposition on who had blocked transfers at that time. The Minister also noted that the previous government had set a cut-off date and implemented an alternative approach, while normally, transfers for third-grade teachers do not follow any standard provision.
Teachers Across the State Await Policy Implementation
The issue of third-grade teacher transfers has been longstanding, with teacher organizations consistently demanding a formal transfer policy. The current government has made it clear that concrete action will only follow once the new policy is in place. Stakeholders are now watching closely to see when the policy will be finalized and whether it will bring relief to teachers awaiting transfers.
