
New Delhi, India: On the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas, commemorating the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, paid homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution. Known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, he is celebrated for his enduring contributions to social justice, equality, and human dignity.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi highlighted that Ambedkar’s legacy of equality, justice, and human dignity strengthens his own resolve to protect the Constitution and inspires a collective struggle for a more inclusive and compassionate India.
Ambedkar’s Constitution Is Everyone’s Responsibility
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that safeguarding the Indian Constitution is a shared national responsibility, reflecting Ambedkar’s vision. Speaking to reporters after the tribute ceremony in Parliament, he described Ambedkar as a great national figure, whose ideals continue to guide India’s democratic and social framework.
“Ambedkar ji is an ideal. He showed the path to the entire nation. He gave us the Constitution. That is why we remember him and protect his ideas and the Constitution. The Constitution of every Indian is under threat, and it is the duty of citizens to defend it,” Rahul Gandhi said.
70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas Celebrated at Parliament
The 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas was observed at the Parliament premises near Ambedkar’s statue, organized by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The public was invited to offer floral tributes at the life-size statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar on the Parliament lawn.
The event featured offerings by followers, including a ceremonial display of Buddhist chants performed by 25 monks. DAF also facilitated storage arrangements for devotees’ belongings, ensuring smooth participation in the tribute ceremony.
This annual observance reaffirms Ambedkar’s enduring legacy and the ongoing responsibility of every Indian to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and democracy enshrined in the Constitution.
