Following public criticism of Rahul Gandhi by former Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed, several party leaders from the minority community have come forward in support of the Congress leader. After Tariq Anwar, the next in this chain is Congress MP Mohammad Javed from Kishanganj.
Support for Rahul Gandhi
Addressing Shakeel Ahmed’s remarks, Mohammad Javed described them as incorrect. “Everyone has their opinion, but Rahul Gandhi is a capable leader, and the country needs him,” he said.
Javed added, “In my view, Shakeel Ahmed’s statement is entirely wrong. Decisions to expel a leader are not taken lightly by the Congress party. Whenever a leader leaves the party, it is by their own choice. We never hold differences with leaders who have chosen to part ways.”
Focus on Employment in the Budget
On the upcoming budget, Javed expressed hope that the government would consider public concerns, ensuring benefits reach all sections of society. “Unemployment has become a major issue. The government needs to pay special attention to this so that the difficulties faced by young people can be addressed. Youth are visibly distressed due to the lack of employment opportunities,” he noted.
He further emphasized that the central government should prioritize public welfare over catering to selected allies. “We hope the budget will be effective, but we will know the details in due course,” Javed added.
Seat Sharing in Tamil Nadu
On seat-sharing talks between the DMK and Congress in Tamil Nadu, Javed said, “In any alliance, all partners aim for favorable seats to ensure their contribution helps form a government. This is not just about Tamil Nadu; similar scenarios occur in every state. Discussions are ongoing, and a good decision will be announced soon.”
Criticism of Bihar Government
Targeting the Bihar government, Javed said, “The situation in Bihar has deteriorated, and women and girls do not feel safe. The government has forgotten the promises made before coming to power.”
He also criticized the BJP, stating, “As the number of BJP MLAs increases in Bihar, incidents of atrocities against women have also risen. This is not new. The government must take concrete steps to ensure women’s safety so that citizens feel secure.”
