Pune/Mumbai: The political heat in Maharashtra is rising amid local body elections, following revelations in the Pune land scam. The controversy has drawn national attention, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launching a sharp attack in the Lok Sabha. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, is at the center of the allegations. Alongside him, the names of two associates—Digvijay Patil and Sheetal Tejwani—have emerged. Both names have been included in the FIR filed by the Pune authorities.
Who Are Digvijay Patil and Sheetal Tejwani?
Digvijay Patil, who has come under the spotlight following the Pune land deal, is the nephew of Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, a current member of the Rajya Sabha. Sheetal Tejwani’s name appears in a prior FIR concerning a loan fraud case with Pune’s Seva Vikas Bank.
The Pune Registration Inspector General has filed an FIR against Parth Pawar, Digvijay Patil, and Sheetal Tejwani over alleged irregularities in multi-crore land deals in Pune. Reports indicate that Parth Pawar and Digvijay Patil are directors of Amadia Enterprises LLP, while Tejwani held the power of attorney for the land in question. Another FIR has been filed against Digvijay Patil related to a separate government land transaction in Bopodi, also naming Tejwani.
Three LLPs at a Single Address
Around 25-year-old Digvijay Patil, Sunetra Pawar’s nephew, partnered with Parth Pawar to register three LLPs at the same address in Shivajinagar, Pune: Maharashtra Redevelopment Construction LLP, Amadia Enterprises LLP, and Amadia Holdings LLP. Both are listed as directors. Digvijay’s father, Amarsingh Patil, was a village sarpanch and passed away in 2020. Amarsingh was Sunetra Pawar’s brother and step-brother to former Maharashtra Home Minister Padmsingh Patil. While Amarsingh frequently visited Pune for farming, Digvijay rarely came.
Sheetal Tejwani’s Legal Past
This is not Sheetal Tejwani’s first brush with controversy. She was previously implicated in a Seva Vikas Bank loan fraud case starting in 2018, along with her husband, Sagar Suryavanshi. In 2020, the bank seized multiple properties linked to Tejwani, Suryavanshi, and others. Tejwani also served as a director of the now-defunct Paramount Dreambuild Private Limited.
On Friday, Ajit Pawar claimed that the land deal had been canceled and defended his son, asserting that the investigation would reveal all details.
