Patna, Bihar: Following a decisive defeat in the Bihar elections, Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor (PK) issued a public apology to the people of Bihar, taking full responsibility for the party’s failure to gain voter trust. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Kishor acknowledged that despite three years of relentless effort, he could not convince voters about the basis on which they should cast their votes.
Full Responsibility for the Loss
Kishor said, “We worked tirelessly to offer a new political alternative, but we did not succeed. Not only did we fail to bring a change in power, but we also could not achieve any significant reform in the system. The people did not place their trust in us, and I take 100% responsibility for this.”
On Nitish Kumar and Corruption Allegations
Clarifying his stance on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, PK stated that he never accused Kumar of corruption. He emphasized that his comments and press conferences only addressed corruption issues concerning certain ministers, not the Chief Minister himself. PK added, “It is now Nitish Kumar’s responsibility to ensure a corruption-free cabinet and fulfill promises made to the public.”
Commitment to Bihar, Not Politics
Kishor reaffirmed his dedication to Bihar’s development, stating, “I am not holding any official position, so resignation is not applicable. I may step away from active politics, but I will never abandon Bihar. The people have seen me work hard for three years, and now I will work even harder. I will not step back until my commitment to improving Bihar is fulfilled.”
One-Day Silence as Act of Atonement
Acknowledging his inability to effectively communicate the party’s vision to voters, PK announced he would observe a one-day silent fast at Gandhi Bhitiharwa Ashram on 20 November. He stressed, “We may have made mistakes, but we committed no crime. We did not spread caste-based or communal venom, nor did we indulge in religious or vote-buying practices.”
This statement marks Prashant Kishor’s solemn attempt at political accountability, highlighting his commitment to Bihar and promise to continue working for systemic reforms despite electoral setbacks.
