Patna: Popular Bhojpuri singer Khesari Lal Yadav has expressed his disillusionment with active politics following his defeat in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections from the Chapra constituency. Reflecting on his political journey, Khesari stated that he believes he is better suited to being an artist, and that politics is not a field for someone who speaks the truth.
Speaking to the Media
Khesari Lal told reporters on Saturday, “I feel that someone who speaks the truth cannot rise very far in politics. Speaking the truth creates problems. In politics, only false promises seem to get you ahead. If you know how to fool people, only then is politics for you.”
He added that his loss in the assembly elections is well understood across Bihar, noting that the outcome was part of the electoral process.
Choosing Integrity Over Politics
Reflecting on his career and approach, Khesari said, “I believe I am best suited as an artist. Throughout my life, I have acted with honesty and taken responsibility. These values have guided me to where I am today. But in politics, if the people do not want change or improvement, then no leader or party can force it. That responsibility lies with the public.”
He further emphasized that progress requires voters to choose better options. “I am doing my best for my life and for my children. If the people of Bihar want to create a better future for their children, they must choose wisely. If they are content with the current state, that is their choice. Neither I nor the government can be blamed for that,” he said.

Khesari Lal Yadav contested the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections from Chapra but faced defeat, prompting him to reflect on the challenges of truth and integrity in politics.
