Political Twist at Tej Pratap Yadav’s Dahi-Chooda Feast: Why Did Chirag Paswan Miss the Event?

Patna: Bihar’s political corridors witnessed an interesting twist during the traditional Dahi-Chooda feast organized by Tej Pratap Yadav. While the event, held to mark Makar Sankranti, saw the presence of NDA heavyweights, including Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha and other senior leaders, Chirag Paswan of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) remained noticeably absent.

A Missed Call Sparks Speculation
Reports suggest that Tej Pratap Yadav tried to reach out to Chirag Paswan over the phone, but the call went unanswered. Chirag attributed this to his busy schedule, stating that it is not uncommon for him to miss calls due to work commitments. He, however, emphasized that there is no bitterness between him and Tej Pratap, referring to him warmly as his “younger brother” and extending Makar Sankranti greetings.

The political fraternity in Bihar, however, is speculating whether Chirag’s absence is linked to his party’s setback in the Mahua Assembly or past differences, making the “missed call” a talking point across political circles.

NDA Leaders’ Presence, LJP’s Absence
The feast at Tej Pratap’s residence was notable for the overwhelming presence of NDA leaders. Senior figures like Vijay Sinha of the BJP and Ashok Chaudhary of JD(U) were seen enjoying the festivities. Invitations were extended to leaders of smaller parties such as Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM. Even Chirag’s uncle, Pashupati Paras, attended. Yet, not a single representative from Chirag Paswan’s party was present.

Chirag on Tejashwi Yadav’s Absence
When asked about the absence of Tej Pratap’s younger brother Tejashwi Yadav at the feast, Chirag declined to make any political comment. “This is a family matter and should not be viewed through a political lens,” he said. “With the head of the family, Lalu Prasad Yadav, present, there is no need to debate anyone else’s attendance.”

The Dahi-Chooda feast, traditionally a celebration of family, friendship, and community ties, thus also served as a subtle reminder of the complex political dynamics in Bihar.
