Political Firestorm in Maharashtra: Shaina NC Slams Sanjay Raut Over Kamathipura Remarks

Mumbai, Maharashtra:
Tensions are rising in Maharashtra’s political landscape as municipal elections approach, with party leaders exchanging sharp barbs. In a recent controversy, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Shaina NC targeted her political rival, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, over his remarks about the Kamathipura area of South Mumbai.

Raut’s Controversial Comment

Sanjay Raut, in a video that went viral on social media, allegedly said, “For the BJP, anyone is fine. BJP is also standing in Kamathipura to do business, anyone can come.” Kamathipura is traditionally known as Mumbai’s red-light district, and Raut’s comment was widely criticized for being insensitive toward the women living and working there.

Shaina NC’s Retort

Reacting strongly, Shaina NC described Sanjay Raut as a “roadside man” and questioned whether his statement represented the official view of Shiv Sena (UBT). She criticized Raut for ignoring the real struggles of Kamathipura’s residents, including educated individuals and local businesspeople. Shaina NC also reminded Raut of his party’s crushing defeat in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, warning that similar results await him in the upcoming municipal elections, results of which are scheduled to be announced on January 16, 2026.

Political Implications

Shaina NC’s remarks have ignited heated debates online and in political circles, reflecting the growing rivalry ahead of the 29 municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra. Her statement also served as a direct warning to former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, suggesting that internal party conflicts could undermine the party’s prospects.

This latest exchange underscores the intensifying political battles and personal attacks as parties gear up for crucial local elections in Maharashtra.
