Jaipur, December 22, 2025: A political stir has emerged in Rajasthan after a video of Cabinet Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena went viral on social media. In the clip, he appears to refer to Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari as the Chief Minister, sparking speculation about potential future leadership changes in the state.
The Incident
The remarks were made during the “Lakhpati Didi State-Level Dialogue” program at OTS Jaipur, held to mark the completion of two years of the state government. The event was attended by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, both Deputy Chief Ministers, and several other ministers. During his speech, Dr. Meena praised Diya Kumari, noting that her presence at the program would inspire women. In a slip of the tongue, he said, “You are both a queen and the Chief Minister of the state,” in front of CM Sharma.
Social Media Reacts
The video quickly gained traction online, with netizens offering varied interpretations. Some view the remark as a possible prediction, while others speculate that it hints at Diya Kumari’s potential elevation to the Chief Minister’s post in the future. Political analysts are drawing parallels with Gujarat, where sudden changes in leadership, including cabinet reshuffles and chief minister replacements, have occurred in the past.
Political Speculation
While there is currently no official indication of a change in Rajasthan’s chief ministership, political circles are abuzz with conjecture. Past examples, such as the resignation of Gujarat’s Vijay Rupani-led cabinet in September 2021 and earlier the removal of Anandiben Patel, fuel speculation about sudden shifts. In the BJP, central leadership decisions often take political observers by surprise, keeping rumors and anticipations alive.
Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena’s comment, intentional or accidental, has reignited discussions on political dynamics in Rajasthan, highlighting the unpredictable nature of leadership changes in Indian politics.
