PM Modi Holds Talks with Brazil’s President Lula, Looks Forward to Welcoming Him in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the phone on Thursday with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the India-Brazil strategic partnership and taking it to new heights in the coming years.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of close cooperation to advance the shared interests of the Global South, a group of developing and least-developed countries. He expressed his eagerness to welcome President Lula to India in the near future.

In a post on X, Modi stated, “It was a pleasure speaking with President Lula. We reviewed the progress of the India-Brazil strategic partnership, which is poised to reach new heights in the coming year. Our close cooperation is critical to advancing the shared interests of the Global South. I look forward to welcoming him to India soon.”

Shared Interests and Multilateral Cooperation
According to an official statement, the leaders discussed regional and global issues of mutual interest and stressed the importance of enhanced multilateralism in addressing shared challenges. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to further strengthening the India-Brazil strategic partnership in the coming year.
