Patna: On the birth anniversary of Bihar’s former Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Karpoori Thakur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tribute to the legendary leader, remembering his lifelong commitment to the upliftment of the underprivileged, marginalized, and weaker sections of society.

Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote: “Respectful homage to Bihar’s former Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Jananayak Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary. The upliftment of the oppressed and weaker sections was always at the heart of his politics. His simplicity and dedication to public service make him ever memorable and exemplary.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute, calling Thakur “a beacon of inspiration.” In his X post, Shah said: “On the birth anniversary of the champion of social justice, Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, I remember and salute him. Through reservations for the backward, marginalized, and economically disadvantaged, he set exemplary standards of social justice.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Thakur’s memorial in Patna to pay his respects, saying, “On the birth anniversary of the great socialist leader and Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, I bow in respect.” Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary also paid tribute, noting, “His lifelong struggle for social justice, equality, and public welfare will always remain an inspiration.”
