Lucknow: The BJP office in Uttar Pradesh was abuzz with activity on Saturday morning as party leaders gathered for the nomination process of the new Uttar Pradesh BJP president. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several senior leaders were present at the party headquarters in Lucknow.

In a subtle hint to the media, UP Minister Swatantra Dev Singh indicated that Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary is poised to become the next UP BJP president. Speaking to journalists, Swatantra Dev Singh said:

“The nomination process is scheduled today. The BJP will soon have a new state president. He is popular in his community and has worked hard within the party. He has been elected Member of Parliament seven times and will bring significant benefits to the party. In BJP, there is no casteism, no regionalism, no individualism, and no nepotism – only nationalism.”

Fourth Kurmi Leader to Head UP BJP

If appointed, Pankaj Chaudhary will become the fourth Kurmi leader to hold the post of UP BJP president. Previously, Om Prakash Singh, Vinay Katiyar, and Swatantra Dev Singh have served in this capacity.

Chaudhary, currently serving as Union Minister of State for Finance, is considered a prominent Kurmi face in the BJP. He has represented the Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency seven times, winning consecutive elections since entering politics. His political journey began in 1989, when he contested the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation elections as a councilor.

During the ongoing proceedings, Chaudhary stated that all BJP MPs were called to participate in the state president election, and the party will decide on the final candidate for nomination.
