Over 88,000 Voters in Hamirpur-Mahoba to Receive Notices After UP SIR Verification

Following the Special Summary Revision (SIR) exercise in Uttar Pradesh, more than 88,000 voters in the Hamirpur and Mahoba parliamentary constituencies are set to receive notices from the Election Office. The move comes after the SIR process revealed inconsistencies and missing historical details in voter records.

Patna: The Election Office has begun preparations to issue notices to over 88,000 voters identified during the SIR exercise, including more than 34,000 voters from Mahoba. These voters were flagged for failing to provide detailed historical information in the 2003 voter lists, placing them in the “No Mapping” category.

During the SIR campaign, conducted from November 4 to December 26 last year, approximately 1.75 lakh names were deleted from the electoral rolls for being invalid or fake. In Hamirpur district, the voter digitization process now covers 89.22% of registered voters.

According to Assistant Electoral Officer S.K. Shukla, prior to the SIR, Hamirpur had 428,528 registered voters, which has now reduced to 379,868 after invalid names were removed. Similarly, in the Rath Assembly segment, the voter count dropped from 411,203 to 369,385.

In total, 90,560 voters in Hamirpur and 88,352 in Mahoba were found to be invalid and removed from the electoral rolls.

Notice to “No Mapping” Voters

Voters categorized under “No Mapping” will now receive official notices to prove their eligibility. In Hamirpur district, 53,791 voters will be issued notices, while Mahoba district will see 34,671 voters receive notices. Once these voters submit any one of the 13 prescribed documents issued by the Election Commission of India, their names will be restored to the voter list.

The exercise aims to ensure clean, accurate, and verifiable voter lists ahead of future elections, strengthening electoral transparency and integrity in the state.
