Bihar has taken a major leap toward transparent and efficient policing. State Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday launched the CCTNS Citizen Services Portal from the Bihar Police Headquarters at Sardar Patel Bhavan, Patna. The new system aims to make policing more citizen-friendly, accountable, and digital.
A Bold Step After Taking Charge
Since assuming office, Samrat Choudhary has remained in full action mode. After forming the Abhaya Brigade against eve-teasers and street offenders, he has now introduced a major reform to streamline public access to police services.
Entire Case Journey Now Available Online
With the launch of the Citizen Service Portal, every stage of a criminal case—from registration to investigation—will now be accessible online. This eliminates the scope for manipulation at police stations and increases transparency in police functioning.
Officials said the portal will significantly reduce unnecessary visits to police stations. It marks a strong step toward accountable, tech-enabled policing and will eventually include more services to ensure that citizens can access them without physically visiting any police office.
Key Services Available on the Portal
According to the Bihar Police Headquarters, the new portal will transform how citizens interact with the police. Major features include:
- Online complaint filing (E-Complaint)
- Instant forwarding of complaints to the concerned police station
- Online FIR registration after preliminary verification
- Police verification services without visiting the station
- Real-time updates on complaint status
- Digital access to lost-and-found services
This will drastically reduce dependency on physical visits and bring uniformity to the process.
No More Arbitrary Practices at Police Stations
Speaking at the launch, Home Minister Choudhary emphasized that every essential police service will soon be available directly to citizens at their doorstep—digitally.
He added that citizens will no longer need to run from one police office to another for verification, complaints, or documentation.
All procedures will now be transparent, digital, and monitored directly by the government, preventing negligence or misuse of authority. Citizens will be able to track the status of their applications in real time, saving time, effort, and money.
