Nitish Kumar’s Samriddhi Yatra to Saran: Assessing Health, Development, and Progress in Lalu Yadav’s Home Turf

Patna/Saran: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to visit Saran as part of his ongoing Samriddhi Yatra, bringing a bag of developmental initiatives while also closely evaluating the implementation of previously announced projects. During this visit, the CM will review the progress of schemes declared during the earlier Pragati Yatra and assess the on-ground reality of the “Saat Nischay” initiatives.

Previous Development Initiatives
Almost a year ago, during the Pragati Yatra, Nitish Kumar had announced projects worth ₹985 crore for Saran. This included the inauguration of 32 schemes costing ₹688.17 crore and the foundation-laying of 20 projects valued at ₹296.42 crore.

Infrastructure Development under Review
As part of the Pragati Yatra, the CM had inspected several road projects, including the widening and strengthening of the NH-19 Left Out section at Chhapra Path, the proposed elevated road from Doriganj Bazaar to Bishunpura, and other major roadworks covering Saran and Siwan districts worth ₹701.26 crore. During his upcoming visit, he will review the progress of these initiatives and ongoing infrastructure projects.

Focus on Medical College Progress
Nitish Kumar had inaugurated the Rajkiya Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya & Hospital, Chhapra remotely, with a project cost of ₹655 crore. During his visit, he will assess the actual ground-level status of the medical college and hospital construction, ensuring that developmental promises are translating into tangible progress. The visit also carries symbolic significance as Saran has historically been the home turf of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, presenting an opportunity to showcase governance and development.

Evaluation of Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Initiatives
The Chief Minister will also review projects under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign, including beautified ponds with paved pathways and ghats, MGNREGA-constructed rural ghats, and sports grounds. Special attention will be given to the construction of stepped ghats around the ponds and their overall utility for local communities.
