Nitish Kumar’s Samriddhi Yatra from Bettiah: Achievements and Key Takeaways

Patna/Bettiah: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched his Samriddhi Yatra from Bettiah, aiming to set a new benchmark for development by improving the state’s Human Development Index through industrial and infrastructural growth. The journey not only involved the distribution of gifts and benefits but also reviewed existing schemes and explored new avenues for development.

Reviewing Progress from the Pragati Yatra

In February 2025, Nitish Kumar had undertaken the Pragati Yatra, directing the early completion of several key projects. During his Samriddhi Yatra stop in Bettiah, the CM reviewed the status of these previously approved schemes and assessed the fulfillment of past promises.

Key highlights of the review include:

Roads and Infrastructure

During the Pragati Yatra, Nitish Kumar had announced special benefits for the Tharu community, including road construction along both banks of the Don Canal. The ongoing Samriddhi Yatra reviewed the status of these roads, which have significantly improved connectivity and mobility for the community. The CM also reviewed the nearly completed four-lane road from Bettiah Parvat to GMCH, highlighting its impact on regional transport.

Sports Infrastructure

The state government had planned a modern stadium in Bettiah, upgrading the existing Maharaja Stadium. While the project is still incomplete, the review identified land acquisition issues, and the CM ordered prompt action to resolve them.

Farmers and Agriculture

During the previous Pragati Yatra, Nitish Kumar had announced a ₹10 increase in sugarcane prices for farmers. While Samriddhi Yatra aimed to meet and interact with sugarcane farmers, time constraints prevented a direct meeting with them.

Opening New Doors for Development

Beyond reviewing past projects, the Samriddhi Yatra also focused on identifying new possibilities for industrial and infrastructural development, ensuring that the state continues its trajectory toward growth and prosperity.

Through this journey, Nitish Kumar appears to have effectively combined progress evaluation, new initiatives, and public engagement, reinforcing his commitment to a prosperous and modern Bihar.
