Nitin Nabin’s Political Fortunes Transform After Appointment as BJP National Working President

Barely a week after assuming charge as the National Working President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Nabin has witnessed a dramatic transformation in his political stature. Once regarded as a low-profile leader from Bihar who had to seek appointments with senior figures, Nabin now finds top BJP leaders queuing up to meet him, reflecting the immense authority and prestige attached to his new role.

With the BJP claiming to be the world’s largest political party, the position of National Working President carries exceptional weight. Party protocol has elevated Nabin to the inner circle of the BJP’s top leadership, placing him alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the party’s highest decision-making hierarchy.

Known for his calm demeanour and understated style, Nabin had until recently been largely confined to the political corridors of Patna. However, his sudden rise from Bihar politics to the national stage has made him one of the busiest political figures in the country, leaving little scope for the low-key functioning he was once known for.

Grand Welcome in Bihar

The scale of his new stature was on full display during his first visit to Bihar after assuming office. Thousands of BJP workers, along with senior state leaders, gathered at the Patna airport to welcome him. The Bihar BJP converted the visit into a grand political show, organising a six-kilometre roadshow from the airport.

Nabin rode in an open vehicle, accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, as well as state BJP president Sanjay Sarawgi, underlining his elevated position within the party.

Week of High-Profile Meetings in Delhi

Before his Bihar visit, Nabin spent an entire week in New Delhi, engaged in a series of high-level meetings. He called on BJP veterans L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi to seek their blessings. He also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, and senior leaders including Nitin Gadkari, Bhupender Yadav, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

According to reports, Nabin participated in four key political meetings during this period. These included interactions with BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh and NDA leaders from Bihar, meetings with party office-bearers and staff at the BJP headquarters, and a separate session with party general secretaries. Senior leader Dushyant Gautam has been entrusted with coordinating Nabin’s official engagements.

Meetings with Constitutional Authorities and Chief Ministers

The BJP’s new National Working President also met Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and former President Ram Nath Kovind, marking his first interactions with them in his new role. Since shifting to Delhi, he has also held meetings with several NDA-ruled state Chief Ministers, including N. Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh), Nayab Singh Saini (Haryana), Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Nabin’s rapid rise and packed schedule underscore not only a personal political transformation but also the strategic importance of his role as the BJP gears up for upcoming organisational and electoral challenges at the national level.
