New Delhi: The suspense over the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to an end. Nitin Nabin is set to take charge as the party’s national president on January 20, 2026, succeeding JP Nadda. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the ceremony along with several senior party leaders, including chief ministers, national office-bearers, state party presidents, and members of the national executive.
Currently, Nitin Nabin is serving as BJP’s working president, and following the end of Kharmas, he will formally assume the position. JP Nadda has been one of the longest-serving and most respected presidents in the party’s history.
Youngest BJP President with Strong Organizational Support
Since his appointment as working president, Nitin Nabin has received full backing from senior leaders. The election for the president’s post on January 20 is widely seen as a formality. At 46 years of age, Nitin Nabin will become the youngest BJP national president with the full support of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His appointment signals a significant phase of change within the party, bringing together youthful energy and experienced leadership.
Key Details of the Transition
According to party sources, the nomination process for the president’s post will be held on January 19, followed by the election on the next day. Nitin Nabin was selected as BJP’s working president on December 15, 2025, but the formal assumption of office was delayed due to Kharmas, a period considered inauspicious in Hindu tradition for starting new ventures. Since then, he has been actively engaging with party workers at the BJP headquarters.
About Nitin Nabin
Nitin Nabin is the son of the late BJP leader and former MLA Naveen Kishore Prasad Sinha. He has nearly two decades of organizational experience in the party. Over the years, he has held several key positions, including President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Bihar, and BJP election in-charge for Chhattisgarh. Currently, he serves as the MLA from Bankipur constituency, Patna district. His elevation as national president is seen as a fresh beginning for the BJP, emphasizing both youth and experience.
