MP CM Mohan Yadav Clarifies: “Rajasthan is Not Pakistan” Amid Water Dispute Discussions

In a candid statement at the DigiFest TIE Global Summit, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized that there is no hostility with Rajasthan, describing the neighbouring state as a “brotherly” partner. Addressing long-standing water-sharing issues, CM Yadav remarked, “Rajasthan is not Pakistan that we should harbor enmity. Our relationship is based on cooperation and mutual benefit.”

During his one-day visit to Jaipur, CM Yadav highlighted the ongoing water dispute over sharing 5 percent of river water between the states, noting that Madhya Pradesh is willing to increase the share to 7 percent to support Rajasthan’s industrial and agricultural needs. He stressed that flowing water cannot be stopped and that rivers and natural resources are a shared gift from God, meant to benefit all.

CM Yadav also met with Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, where both leaders reaffirmed cooperation. Sharma appreciated Madhya Pradesh’s support, stating that adequate water supply would facilitate new industrial development in Rajasthan, boosting the state’s economic future.

Reflecting on past delays, CM Yadav criticized the previous Congress government for stalling the water-sharing agreements, while praising the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project, which now benefits 15 districts in Rajasthan and 13 in Madhya Pradesh. He further noted ongoing collaboration with Uttar Pradesh on the Ken-Betwa river project and with Maharashtra via the Tapti river, underscoring Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to regional cooperation.
