Jaipur: A large-scale protest by government and contractual employees is underway in Jaipur as they march towards the Civil Lines Gate, demanding better promotions, retention of the Old Pension Scheme, regularization of contractual staff, and implementation of fair transfer policies.
The demonstration, organized under the banner of the All Rajasthan State Employees Joint Assembly, began at Albert Hall, from where thousands of employees are proceeding in a rally formation towards Civil Lines.
Key Demands of the Employees
The protesting staff have outlined several demands, including:
- Resolving anomalies in promotions
- Retaining the Old Pension Scheme
- Regularizing contractual and outsourced employees
- Implementing a transparent transfer policy
- Halting privatization in government services
- Implementation of recommendations from the 8th Pay Commission
Employees from across the state have gathered in Jaipur to press these demands.
Allegations Against the Government
Mahavir Sharma, State President of the All Rajasthan State Employees Joint Assembly, criticized the state government for failing to engage in dialogue with employees over the past two years. He stated, “While the government seeks suggestions from various sectors before the budget, it does not spare even a few seconds to hear employees’ grievances. This lack of response has forced us onto the streets.”
Traffic and Security Arrangements
Authorities have imposed barricades and restricted vehicle movement on routes from Sanganeri Gate to Albert Hall and along JLN Marg, anticipating the rally’s march towards Civil Lines Gate. The police are maintaining close surveillance and ensuring strict security arrangements.
Employee organizations have warned that the protest could intensify if their demands are not addressed promptly.
