Mahoba Voter List Revision: 2,450 Names Missing, Including Current Village Heads

Mahoba, UP: The ongoing voter list revision (SIR) in Mahoba district has uncovered significant discrepancies, with thousands of names missing and outdated entries still present. Current village heads and long-time voters have been excluded, while names of deceased individuals remain on the draft list.

Current Village Heads Missing from Draft List
In Srinagar Gram Panchayat of Kabarai block, the draft voter list shows a total of 11,533 voters. Efforts were made to add around 2,500 new voters who have turned 18, but instead, 2,300 existing voters, including current Gram Pradhan Ashish Rajput, his brother Neeraj Rajput, former Pradhan Amit Dixit, and others, were omitted. Shockingly, the list still includes names of 50 deceased voters. Ashish Rajput highlighted that he has been voting for years, including being listed in the 2021 voter list, yet his and others’ names have now disappeared.

Similarly, in Natrra village of Charkhari block, current Gram Pradhan Gayatri Devi, elected for a second term, was missing from the draft list. She reported to the District Magistrate that 150 villagers’ names were omitted. Even after submitting new forms, several names were still not updated. BLO Sunil Kumar stated that the omissions were due to feeding errors during data entry.

Instructions for Correction
Deputy District Election Officer R.P. Vishwakarma confirmed that some names were removed due to missing Aadhaar numbers. To rectify this, all block BDOs have been made nodal officers. Voters whose names have been omitted must submit Form 2 along with a photocopy of their Aadhaar card to the BLO to ensure inclusion in the final voter list.

Deceased Names Still Listed
In Srinagar Gram Panchayat, BLOs had submitted applications to include over 2,500 new voters, but these names were not added. Meanwhile, individuals who passed away years ago—such as Arun Kumar (deceased 2018), Ramashankar (deceased 4 years ago), Harishchandra, and Kailash—still appear in the draft voter list. More than 50 deceased voters’ names remain erroneously included, raising concerns about accuracy and integrity of the voter database.
