Madhya Pradesh to Get New ‘Power Hub’: ₹60,000 Crore Investment, 8,000 Jobs in Anuppur

Bhopal: In a landmark move towards making Madhya Pradesh self-reliant in the energy sector, the state government on Tuesday signed Power Supply Agreements (PSAs) for new 4,000 MW thermal power projects in Anuppur district. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, marking a major step in the state’s energy and industrial growth.

The projects, expected to attract investments of around ₹60,000 crore, are anticipated to generate approximately 3,000 direct and 5,000 indirect employment opportunities, providing a significant boost to the local economy.

Three major companies have been allocated capacities through the tendering process: Torrent Power Limited will set up a 1,600 MW plant, while Hindustan Thermal Projects and Adani Power Limited will each set up 800 MW plants. An additional 800 MW capacity has been provisioned with special approval from the state government.

All projects will be implemented under the DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate) model, positioning Anuppur as a central energy hub. The power plants are expected to start production by 2030, ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to industries and households, while stimulating regional economic growth in the Vindhya region.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said, “The signing of the 4,000 MW Power Supply Agreements today in Bhopal marks a historic milestone. With this initiative, Madhya Pradesh will receive investments worth approximately ₹60,000 crore and create employment for over 8,000 people. These new DBFOO-model power plants in Anuppur will not only meet the state’s growing energy needs but also accelerate industrial development.”
