Lucknow: Youth Beaten to Death for Opposing Harassment of His Sister; Three Accused Arrested

A shocking murder case has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s capital, where a 21-year-old youth was brutally beaten to death for opposing the harassment of his cousin sister. The incident, which occurred under the Mohanlalganj police station limits, has sent shockwaves across the area. Police have arrested three accused—two butchers and a photographer—after an intensive investigation involving the scrutiny of nearly 100 CCTV cameras.

The deceased has been identified as Almas (21), son of Ravi Mohammad. According to police, Almas had been objecting to the repeated harassment of his relative by one of the accused, Ramzan. This opposition allegedly became the motive behind a pre-planned conspiracy that led to his murder.

Went Missing, Body Found Near Canal

On December 30, Ravi Mohammad informed the police that his son Almas had left home on the evening of December 29 around 7:30 pm, saying he was going to Khujouli, but did not return. A missing person report was registered.

Later the same day, police received information about an unidentified body found in a field near the Big Canal. The body was subsequently identified as Almas.

100 CCTV Cameras Scanned

To crack the case, police teams examined footage from around 100 CCTV cameras installed along the Khujouli–Mau road and nearby routes. Several people were also questioned. Within hours, on December 31, police arrested the three accused, who later confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Friends Turned Killers

Police revealed that the accused—Ramzan, Arman, and Suraj—were known to the victim and lived in the same locality. Ramzan had been harassing Almas’s cousin sister, which had earlier led to arguments and even physical altercations between the two.

Nurturing a grudge, Ramzan allegedly conspired with his associates to eliminate Almas. Ramzan and Arman are butchers by profession, while Suraj works as a photographer.

Lured and Murdered in a Secluded Area

According to police, on the evening of December 29, the accused were sitting at a shop when Arman called Almas on the phone and asked him to meet. They took him on two motorcycles, first towards Atrauli. Seeing people in the area, they changed their plan and moved to a deserted stretch along the Mau Big Canal.

There, Arman allegedly struck Almas on the head with a strong eucalyptus stick, knocking him unconscious. The trio then dragged him down and repeatedly assaulted him with sticks until he succumbed to his injuries. The body was dumped near the canal before the accused fled the scene.

Weapons and Evidence Recovered

Police have recovered the murder weapon (wooden stick), the victim’s mobile phone, and the motorcycle used in the crime. All three accused have been sent to jail.

Police officials stated that the case highlights a brutal act of violence driven by personal enmity and emphasized that strict legal action will be taken to ensure justice for the victim.
